Multi-Signature Escrow Feature Rollout — All Users Now Covered

The migration to universal 2-of-3 multi-signature escrow is now complete. As of September 20, 2025, every new order on Nexus Market is automatically structured as a 2-of-3 multisig transaction — no opt-in required.

Why This Took Time

Implementing multi-sig escrow at scale for multiple cryptocurrencies required significant technical work. The Bitcoin and Litecoin implementations leveraged native multisig capabilities, while the Monero implementation used a custom MuSig2-adapted scheme compatible with XMR's cryptographic primitives. Testing and security review of the XMR implementation in particular required an extended development and audit period.

What Changed for Users

For buyers: nothing changes in the user experience. Deposit, purchase, and confirmation work identically. The protection is implemented at the protocol level — funds are held in a multisig address rather than a platform-controlled single-key address. If you've previously completed transactions under the old escrow system, those remain handled under the original terms.

For vendors: the vendor dashboard now shows a "My Escrow Key" section allowing vendors to export their private key for backup. This key is generated deterministically from their account seed — if the vendor account is active and the seed is known, the escrow key can be regenerated at any time.
